If there is a “reserved minimum” and the terms & conditions disclose that the auctioneer will be on behalf of the reserve, then it is NOT “shilling”. The public has no idea what a “shill” really is, except from those that don’t know what they’re talking about… such as this poster above.

Yeah… You’re right. I’m a licensed auctioneer for over 10 years and I’m the one that “don’t get this.” Believe what you want to believe and live in denial or learn the laws and what auctions are about. 1.)If disclosed, the auctioneer may bid on behalf of a reserve. This is NOT shilling. Shilling is if it is not disclosed or running the bid when there is no reserve. That’s the difference. Search “weblog auction law” and “U.C.C.” for the law.

Auctions are back in business at present and you won’t have to look far for a bargain at the moment. With the right finance provider profitable property investments are within the reach of most people. The credit crisis has increased the number of forced sales and therefore the opportunities massively.

It is the auctioneer’s job, to bid the reserve. It is the bidders job to understand teh conditions of the auction. In juristictions where the auctioneer is precluded by law from bidding to the reserve for the seller. I those cases I have often asked bidders to raise their own bid until they are done bidding or the reserve is met. this is just a guy making something out of nothing. But if he didn’t do that, who would watch the show???

Painful to watch. In todays market increasingly large numbers of property are not making the reserve at auctions.
