Based on previous reviews I had high expectations for this book. It does have some standard, basic/good advice. Much of what is in here however is the same old stuff repeated in several different ways throughout: Such as – having a positive attitude, good grooming, enjoying your life by yourself – not being needy. [...] Poorly written at times.

I would skip it.

Since I had no way of looking inside book prior to purchasing it, the reviews were the selling point for me; I figured, if this book had transformed so many other lives so positively, why wouldn’t it change mine? I soon realized this was very faulty reasoning on my part. Since the advice in this book is presented as a list, I will phrase my qualms with it similarly:

1. The spelling and grammar are terribly poor- a simple spell checker would have fixed most of the mistakes. I highly doubt there were any edits beyond the original draft.

2. Much of the advice is not exactly original, and is often quite simplistic, if not a little insulting. I do suppose, in order to be considered “super hot” by some American men, you have to conform to certain cultural standards. But I think they take their stereotypes a bit too far. For example, it recommends that you tan in your back yard, buy fake designer hand bags, grow your hair long, smell like a flower: basic information you can easily find on the internet. Whether you agree with it or not is another issue.

3. There is no overarching narrative, and thus no cohesive voice. I walked away feeling as if I had read 20 pamphlets, not a book. The advice is fragmented into 339 tips, (many of which are either common sense or reiterations of previous tips), sans an introduction or conclusion.

I was expecting a book a bit more intelligent and thoughtful, not just a list of tips I could find somewhere on the internet. I’ve heard it before. There are plenty of other options with more creative ideas and more applicable content available. Even though I did not particularly love The Manual by Steve Santagati, I did pick some useful advice because he provided a few background stories with advice on how to put his ideas into action, as opposed to just a list of tips, as this is.

My girlfriends and i were casually discussing flirting tactics one day, so for fun we searched around in amazon, found this book, read all of the very high reviews, and were super excited to start reading it (in a very goofy, girly way.) When the book arrived, I picked it up, read it in less than an hour, and was very let down. The book is written in list form, which I’m fine with, and then seperated into different chapters. However, I felt that the information provided wasn’t really anything new and was honestly reiterated in various unnecessary wordy paragraphs (or points, i guess) over and over again, [...]. Some points were cute, but to me seemed obvious and very tongue in cheek ( ie: men like when girls wear pink or peach cause it’s like a pretty flower, make sure to shower because no one likes a dirty girl) and I dug the section about the importance of confidence and how you need to love yourself, but there were too many obstacles in the way for me to enjoy much of the book. [...]. After about 100 tips I basically skimmed through the rest of the book, and sat there pretty dumbfounded about why everyone loved this book. Maybe I’m missing something, or perhaps I should have read this in highschool instead of now in my mid twenties, but it wasn’t worth the [money] that’s for sure.

I bought this book because the title sounded interesting. I just turned 35 and feel that I am a confident, sexy, professional woman, but newly single, I thought why not check it out to see what it had to offer. What a mistake! Ignoring all of the obvious typos, I found this book to be overly simplistic in its advice. In addition, there are many just plain bad suggestions that the authors recommend, such as going to a tanning booth or laying out in the sun to get a tan. I hope any woman who reads this has at least a little sense to use good judgement before partaking in some of these suggestions. From now on, I will rely on what has worked for me in the past everytime, which is my own self-confidence rather than looking to a [...] piece of [...] written for a teenager.

I bought this for a friend in the office and she was transformed from a depressing dullard to a diamond diva! (Worse of all, her phone doesn’t stop ringing now!)

This book is not Tolstoy or Shakespeare, nor does it pretend to be. It is quite obviously a list of digestible tips that you can take on board or leave depending on whether they suit you.

I’ve seen this book work adn recommend it. If you’re looking for psycho-alchemy, keep walking. This is an instruction manual for a new you, not a deep soul mirroring excercise.
