That makes me laugh. Better than Twilight ? Everyone has their opinions but people if all these vampire series were better than Twilight wouldn’t it have sold more or blown up into this phenomenon ?
Ok this book was horribly boring for me. I thought some of the characters were funny and witty but I didn’t feel like I was part of the world it just seemed like a good story with no emotions.

I think that Stephenie Meyer would be very flattered to read Jessica’s Guide to Dating on the Dark Side. While there are some Twilight-ish elements to the story (teen girl meets vampire boy), and a few liberal doses of Kindred: The Embraced (war between the vampire clans), Beth Fantaskey has made this story all her own, and it is one that will attract both Twilight and Kindred fans.

Its like Twilight but I think Twilight is better (even though I hated the last book in the series. Bogus).
All these delicious reviews made me want to buy this book and I almost did.
Thank God I didnt or that would be a waste of 12 bucks (about if you include tax).
It took me a week to read this book because it was just soo uninteresting (30 minutes here an hour there 5 minutes squeezed, etc).
Like other books this book did not suck me into the characters world and my heart didnt do that little leap thing in the supposedly romantic parts and it wasnt a page turner for me because I personally thought the book was ill developed. I wanted to be sucked in and actually FEEL the book.
Nothing. Nada. Nippity doo da.
I hated how the author kept pointing out the ‘American phrases’. Yeah, I know its and American phrase but you really dont have to point it out every 5 seconds in the book. It gets wayyy too repetitive.
Lucius really is conceited and someone needs to teach him a lesson and show him his place.
The main character is alright but c’mon further into the book her not believing that he was a vampire really gets tedious. What a loser.
This book is way too unrealistic (taking aside that this is a vampire book)
Man. What a waste of a week of my life. :/

Overall, the story seemed a bit over done. Maybe I’m past vampire love stories, where vampires really aren’t that bad if you love them enough. Not a bad book though if you love paranormal romances. Or, dramatic teen angst.

There just wasn’t enough meat to this story. Some parts were super funny, lucius’ letters home and the odd way he reacted to Jessica and her family and friends. But so much of the story was skipped. He was there for months, but the author just breezed past it.
Then there was the silliness with the nemesis and some odd horse riding thrown in which was also stunted in the telling. I wonder if there was more story but the publishers put a word cap on it and the author just had to cut out a lot.
The ending was too quick and I thought it a bit off that her family was so completely okay with her being betrothed to a vampire who kept talking about biting her.
All in all, the book kept my interest, there weren’t any terribly slow bits and some of the side characters; Jessica’s best friend in particular, can’t remember her name (she was the sex crazy one) was fun and well described.
